Corcoran Company earns high
marks
from architects
Solid drywall experience is appreciated in the
design phases.
The Corcoran Company has always been interested in
the initial visions for each project it tackles. The
company’s commitment to honoring the intentions of the
designers, and its ability to address design problems
during construction, has earned The Corcoran Company the
respect of regional architects.
"The big thing relative to architects and a
drywall contractor is communication," says Mark
Johnson of HLM Design (Denver). "There are a lot of
constructability issues that we have to address
together; and then we also have to knock out problems as
they come up in the field."
"I’ve
worked with a lot of good drywall companies, and I’d put
The Corcoran Company at the top of
the list."

HLM Design recently worked with The Corcoran Company
on the Longmont United Hospital – a project that
involved many challenging factors ranging from curved
corridors to four-hour fire containment walls. "The
Corcoran Company was very open to our ideas and they
were flexible and proactive. Their team orientation
helped us achieve things while keeping the metal stud
and drywall costs within budget."
"I’ve worked with a lot of good drywall
companies," says Bruce Dalton, of OZ Architects
(Boulder), "and I’d put The Corcoran Company at
the top of the list."
Dalton served as the construction administrator on
two recent projects with The Corcoran Company – one of
which was the new Fort Collins City Office building. The
project involved challenging features which included a
domed ceiling atop a rotunda in the building’s atrium.
Following The Corcoran Company’s input, that feature
was constructed using a prefabed dome atop a radiused
wall.

you’re detailing a project, you need to consult with
someone who knows what they’re doing."

"When they installed that dome on top of the
curved rotunda walls the joint between the two was only
1/16 of an inch, which was pretty amazing considering
the dome had a radius of 14 feet," says Dalton who
credits the accuracy to "the precision of Corcoran’s
metal stud framing and the quality of the company’s
drywall hanging and finishing."
"When you’re detailing a project, you need to
consult with someone who knows what they’re
doing," says Joe Frye of Vaught/Frye Architects
(Fort Collins). "The Corcoran Company has been a
great resource to us because of the depth of their
experience."
Frye, whose design firm has worked with the Corcoran
Company since 1986, cites the drywall company’s focus
during the course of a job: "They’ve always been
willing to go that extra mile with us on every
project."
